Simon Owen
CEO & Managing Director

Mr Owen joined the Group in November 2009 as the Chief Executive Officer.

He initiated and has led the strategy to focus on acquiring, developing and managing a leading portfolio of lifestyle and holiday communities which has seen the Group’s market capitalisation grow from $30 million to over $2.4 billion today.

Mr Owen brings to the Group in-depth sector experience. He is a past member of the Retirement Living Division Council (part of the Property Council of Australia) and a former National President of the Retirement Villages Association (now part of the Retirement Living Council), the peak industry advocacy group for the owners, operators, developers and managers of retirement communities in Australia. He is also a prior Director of BIG4 Holiday Parks, Australia’s leading holiday parks group.

Mr Owen has over 25 years’ experience working in ASX listed groups with roles across finance, funds management, mergers and acquisitions, business development and sales and marketing. Prior to joining Ingenia Communities, he was the CEO of Aevum, a formerly listed seniors housing and aged care company.

Mr Owen is a qualified accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and post graduate diplomas in finance and investment and advanced accounting.



 
 

Karen Landy
Chief Financial Officer (Acting)

Karen has been with ingenia since internalisation in 2012 and is responsible for debt funding, corporate transactions and capital management including the joint venture with Sun Communities.

She has over 20 years experience in the financial services and funds management sectors. Her previous roles include Senior Analyst with ING Real Estate and Head of Strategic Finance and Investments with Zurich Australia.

Karen Holds a Masters in Applies Finance, a Bachelor of Economics, is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.



 
 

Matt Young
GM Tourism

Matthew joined Ingenia in March 2021 and is responsible for all Ingenia Holidays communities and food and beverage operations.​

Matthew brings 25 years’ experience in national and international tourism working with global hotel brands to the role with responsibility for operating hotels and resorts as well as hotel development projects. Prior roles include Vice President QLD and NT at Accor and a variety of leadership positions with InterContinental Hotels Group.

​Matthew has extensive knowledge of the tourism industry and expertise working with global brands managing large teams to deliver on strategy and business outcomes.



 
 

Justin Blumfield
GM Residential

Justin joined the Group in March 2021 and is responsible for the Group’s Residential communities.

Justin has worked within the commercial property industry for the past 14 years. He commenced his property career with the highly successful, top 50 ASX listed property company, The GPT Group. During his seven years at GPT, Justin held various positions in both the retail and commercial property sectors including Marketing Executive, Retail Manager, Centre Manager and Regional Manager of Commercial Office in Victoria.

Prior to joining Ingenia, Justin spent seven years at Vicinity Centres, a world leading top 30 ASX retail property group owning and managing circa $20 billion of commercial real estate assets. Most recently, he held the position of the Director of Shopping Centre Management. In this role, Justin was responsible for the strategic asset management of Vicinity’s 56 core shopping centre assets across Australia including the country’s leading outlet brand DFO.

Justin is a board member of the Abbotsford Convent Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation responsible for the curation and care of the Abbotsford Convent, one of inner Melbourne’s much loved urban retreats, and home to more than 100 arts and creative practitioners.

Prior to Justin’s 14-year property career, he was a professional athlete with the Essendon and Richmond Football Clubs in the Australian Football League. The major achievements of his sporting career were winning the AFL premiership with Essendon in 2000 and being a member of the successful Australian International Rules team in the same year.

Justin holds an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA).
